Hitch Bill or Ted up to your bike and start your own excellent adventure!
Like all things Surly the Bill and Ted traillers are built out of tig-welded 4130 CroMoly steel with #304 stainless steel hardware and contains threaded eyelets to make it your own. Plus it wouldn't be a Surly if it didn''t accept a 2.5" tire.
Please note that you will also need to pick the hitch / yolk assembly by clicking here.
Surly designed the trailers from the ground up to be your best option for carring loads of all sizes.
The downside of many cargo bikes is that while they are capable of carring heavy loads they can be difficult to load and once loaded can be hard to balance for smaller riders. They also do not preform well with longer/wider items such plywood or that new 55" flat screen tv to watch the "Tour" on.
What about the other cargo trailers? Most of the other cargo trailers on the market are either based off of child trailers which have light weight parts and are rated for about 100 pounds, which isn''t going to get that keg of beer (150 pounds) from the brewery to the party without a major failure. Other designs are single wheeled and are great for adventure touring but because of the 1 wheel can be tippy and are also limited to around 75 pounds.
Surly designed their trailers to be:
- Low which make putting heavy items on them easier.
- Easy to customize with tons of threaded mounts to make your own racks, deck or whatever the local hardware store inspires you to build.
- Heavy duty with 300 pound capacity so that you can pick up the beer and not worry about who''s getting the ice and pizza.
- Universally adaptable with Surly''s unique hitch design the trailer is able to be leveled out for a more stable load on bikes with wheels from 20" to 29er''s and hub spacing from 120mm to 145mm. The hitch will work with most disc brake designs and full suspension frames. How ever the trailer will not work with bikes using the QR12 rear axle or fat bikes like the Surly Pugsley
- 32 x 24" Flatbed
Ok so the Bill and Ted trailers sound awesome! What do I need to do to buy one?
- First thing is to select your length, Bill comes in at 64" and Ted is 32".
- Get the hitch, the trailers are SOLD SEPARATELY from the hitch and is required to get things rolling.
