These are very easy to use and not much difference in price between rim tape. Make sure they will work with your rim before you buy. I heard that all spoke holes are not the same size.
Used on my new Velocity deep-V rims with new continental tubes. Both the front and rear flatted after a few hundred miles within a few days of each other. Both tubes had holes on the rim side just opposite the valve hole. Exact same failure on two separate rims. I'm replacing the plugs with rim tape and wishing I had not fallen for the gimmick. I run my tires at 100 - 110 psi.
The spoke holes in my rims let the rim strips creep down and sag into the holes. Eventually, the tube found its way there, too. These plugs filled the holes, even though they didn't quite "snap" into the holes. I put the rim strip back over the plugs and they stayed. No problems since.
Summed up: A good fix for "aero" rims that have the nipples down in holes.
Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

On high psi tires these won't protect your tube from the rim seam and it can flat your tubes pretty quick. On my recumbent trikes where the tires are being run at 50-60 psi rather then 140 psi, they work like a champ and make swapping out a spoke(s) a bit easier.
I installed these so that nipple and spoke repair would be easier to do if needed. Simply remove plug, repair, replace plug - no tape to mess with or replace. It does take a little time to put 64 of these into a set of wheels, making sure they are lined up the right way for each one. 4 "gears" for "really good"; not sure "great" is a term I'd use.
