hos...@ho...l.comI haven't been out in the "all-out" rain yet, so not exactly sure about the "effectiveness" rating ... but will offer the following. The fenders were pretty easy to install and should be quick on/off for on-going use. Good because my frame doesn't have fender mounting points. I have ridden with them on for a couple of rides and they produce only an occassional rattle / tire rub on rough road surfaces. They appear as though they should cover the correct angles for water spray off the tires. I did purchase a fender buddy (extension of the bottoms of the fender as I ride in groups a lot. Something that Planet Bike should consider in the future is having this option come with their fenders, as folks buying this type of fender would generally ride in groups?

jsainsburyLast year I used SKS Race Blades. They're slightly lighter, flimsier, and more expensive. These are sturdy and have a better adjustment method. SKS asks you to bend the struts to adjust. Planet Bike has nuts and bolts. Both attach with silicone straps. PB has better contact area. Probably the same results with both, the SKS contacts wore holes in the clear coat on my rear carbon stays. Very unhappy about that. I would suggest covering the stay before strapping on the fender for either SKS or PB.
