questions about the

Shimano Dura-Ace SL-BS77 Double/Triple Bar End Shift Levers

asked by: mtkyuma
Will this work with a Dura Ace RD 7402 rear derailleur when running an 8 speed cassette?
answered by: t.young
I'm not familiar enough with this shifter to know if it can be set up indexed for both 8 and 9 speed.
answered by: anonymous
Aren't the shifters compatible with that set up when index shifting? Isn't that what the sticker on the shifter indicates?
answered by: t.young
Yes, when it's set up as a friction shifter.
asked by: A Visitor
All accessories for replace with the original shifter are already included?
answered by: t.young
These shifters come with everything you see in the photos.
asked by: A Visitor
will this work on a Sora 2 x 9
answered by: t.young
Yes, it should work.
asked by: A Visitor
will this work on a dura ace 8 speed rear derailleur
answered by: t.young
If it's in friction mode and the limits of the derailleur are properly set, it should work.
asked by: bicyforev
Shifters come with the bottom bracket guide? Can you recommend a cable guide if no?
answered by: mwirth
If you look in the pictures that small piece all the way in the right corner is the bottom bracket cable guide. Thanks!
asked by: A Visitor
Will these fit on the soma urban pursuit bullhorn bar?
answered by: awilson
I can't guarantee it, but I'm quite sure they'd work fine. Most bar ends are pretty standard.
asked by: A Visitor
Could I install these on a bullhorn bar? I can't figure out the sizing. Thanks!
answered by: awilson
It depends on the bullhorn bars. What type do you have?
asked by: A Visitor
I am restoring an 80's vintage bike with 7-sp cluster. Compatible?
answered by: bhardy
Nope. 9 speed and 7 speed are spaced differently. You could use the Ultegra 8-speed shifters. Those are backwards compatible with 7-speed.
asked by: A Visitor
Do these come with cable/housing or do I need to order that separately?
answered by: bhardy
They do come with both cables and housing.
asked by: A Visitor
Is there an adapter the I can place on my down tube shifters to run the cable to bar ends?
answered by: bhardy
Yes there is, please put this number in the search bar and it'll pop right up: 333222368074
asked by: A Visitor
Can I run these with Paul thumbies on a 9-speed mountain (shimano deore) cassette?
answered by: agerweck
Yes, these Shimano Bar-end shifters will work with the Paul Thumbies and and Shimano 9-Speed drivetrain, you can set them up as friction shifters or set them up to index.

Have used these shifters for a little over three years and 17,000 miles in all weathers. Never failed me a single time. Excellent product. Well made and durable. Be aware when ordering them the box includes down tube cable stops and cabling.

These BS77 shifters work great. I have them setup with Shimano mtn bike derailleurs and 9 spd cassette. The shifting is nice and clean.

Review of the Shimano Dura-Ace SL-BS77 Double/Triple Bar End Shift Levers:
With the Paul Components thumbies mount for mountain bikes I used these to gear up my singlespeed frame. I was surprised how precise they are for mountain biking. The restance feel is perfect.

But you have to use a Shimano rear derailleur with them. So I ordered a Jtek Shiftmate so I can pair them with my SRAM X9 rear instead.

Summed up: Works great with Paul Comp thumbie mounts

Review of the Shimano Dura-Ace SL-BS77 Double/Triple Bar End Shift Levers:
I have these on my Touring/MonsterCross Commuter. They work great, though it took me a few shifts to get used to their location (I'm used to DT SHifters). Not the shifter's fault, though. The Friction front is wonderful, never botched a shift. The rear shifts like it's supposed to, light and crisp. I'm running it with a rapid rise LX rear der, and it works well, but shifts "backwards", not an issue...

Summed up: Simple and effective.

Review of the Shimano Dura-Ace SL-BS77 Double/Triple Bar End Shift Levers:
I'm a big fan of simple components that work well and last a long time. Keeping that in mind these are some of the nicest shifters I've used. There are not a lot of moving parts on these and almost nothing that can break. I really like the friction shifting for the front derailleur. It makes it a lot easier to find chainrings and try odd ring setups. The rear works great in the index setting and fairly well in the friction setting (about as well as a 9-speed rear friction shifter could work.) I was so impressed with these that I ended up putting them on both of my road bikes.

Summed up: A good all around shifter set. Dura-Ace quality at an affordable price.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Review of the Shimano Dura-Ace SL-BS77 Double/Triple Bar End Shift Levers:
These are great. Popped the rear shifter into a retroshift hood mount. The index is crisp and pops and the friction setting is butter. My only gripe is it would be nice if the shifters were offered separately from the package to cut costs.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.
