Vilano has very little info on what components are used on their bikes, so we can't be sure without more information. If it is a square tapered BB though, then most likely this would work fine.

This crank will work with both 103 and 110mm bottom brackets depending on what the chain line requirements are for your frame.

Does this crank have a unique backspacing. My frame is built for 107mm.

This crank will work with both 103 and 110mm bottom brackets depending on what the chain line requirements are for your frame. It may work with a 107 but you would want to use a chainline gauge to insure proper alignment.

which bb spindle length for a shimano internal hub?

The chain lines are different depending on which internal hub you're talking about. The Sugino RD crank gives a 44-45mm chainline with a 103mm bottom bracket.

Eventhough Sugino recommends using their BB's is it absolutely necessary if specs matc

Review of the Sugino Single Speed Road 48t 3/32 130mm alloy (RD2):
I was about to retire an old Surly Crosscheck I had parted out building a new touring bike. Then I decided to put a little cash back in and build a single speed "baguette getter" with this crank. Now that ol' Surly is my favorite bike!

With a 9-speed chain and cog, it's super quiet. I guess no pins or ramps helps. Love it!

My only complaint is that Sugino didn't offer a few other teeth count choices.

Summed up: Solid, practical, durable and stylish crank

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.
