There is no difference. Folding tires are also known as Kevlar bead tires, non-folding are steel beaded.

A GuestI love any of the Gatorskin tires, but I especially like the 700x28s. I got my first pair of these about 5 years ago when I kept flatting on my Michelin race tires. Since then I have not ridden any tire but these. In that time I have had 2 flats, both of them were pinch flats because cars forced me onto a curb or into a huge pothole. I'd say 5 years of regular commuting on nasty glass covered roads without a single puncture is pretty great. They have a pretty low rolling resistance especially when you compare them with Specialized Armadillos which do not roll anywhere as smooth as these. I even put these on my fixed gear and they lasted through 11 months of daily riding/skidding.

burnitupxxGood wheels, good price. Customer service was excellent - had some shipping trouble but they took care of it right away. I would reccomend tree fort bikes to anyone.

A GuestI've been using this tire for about a year now on the back and just replaced my other tire with the gatorskin about a month ago as well. I have had zero issues with either one - no flats, they ride well, and are holding up so far. Caveats: I don't have a lot of experience as this is only the second set of tires I've used and I'm into long distance/recreational riding, not racing/speed.

johnknopfI commute 7000 miles a year and was previously running a set of Specialized Armadillos. After less than a season they had numerous cuts and I started flatting almost every week. So I purchased these Continentals in hopes they would perform a little better.
I'm running these on a 29er single-speed outfitted for commuting in the rain (Seattle!). The bead went on easier than my memory of previous Continentals. In the past I usually needed a minor miracle and few cuss words to get the bead over the rim. These 28s were stiff, but not nearly as bad--I was able to roll them on with just my hands and little effort. I've had one slow leak so far, the day after I mounted them, but I think it may have occurred during mounting and not from the road. The rubber seems a little stiffer and less "cuttable" than the Armadillos.
I run mine at 105 psi -- they feel quite good at that pressure. Firm but smooth. Not as harsh as the Armadillos.
