Review of the Planet Bike Protege 9.0, 9 Function Computer:
I like this computer because it has most of the information displayed on a single screen so no button presses are necessary to get the info you need. I also like the temperature display. It's clearly not a critical piece of bike info, but I find it interesting and it's helping me get a better feel for what clothing I need given the weather forecast.

Only complaint is that it does not mount to the stem. Handlebar only as far as I can tell. That's why it only gets 4/5 gears.

Summed up: Nice overall computer. Easy to use. No stem mount option.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Review of the Planet Bike Protege 9.0, 9 Function Computer:
I've used PB 9.0 wired computers for years, perhaps a decade and appreciate them. My four have been through heavy rain without problems. They've bounced around and done tens of thousands of miles. The only reason I got a new one was that on my oldest one @ 10 years, the display was getting very light and hard to see, even with a new battery. I also like that PB doesn't change their design every years with "new" and "improved" features. They got it right the first time for an inexpensive but great product and have kept it the same. Yes, the temperature gets off in direct sunlight, but everything does, otherwise I've found it to be spot on. I use this as a backup and extra info for my Garmin Edge 705 and can view 13 pieces of data at once between the two. Very nice.

Summed up: All 4 of mine are great and I've had one last a decade. Recommend for all who want a computer showing all main data on 1 scr

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Review of the Planet Bike Protege 9.0, 9 Function Computer:
I keep looking at fancier computers with cadence, HR monitor interface, and wireless pickups, but can't bring myself to spend the cash when this is available. I have a pair of them and mounts on all my bikes.

The buttonless operation involves just bumping the whole computer with your hand to change screens. It's very easy to do and never happens by accident.

It has an accurate and responsive temperature sensor, which I like a lot.

A backlight would be nice for night use.

Summed up: Basic, affordable, reliable computer.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Review of the Planet Bike Protege 9.0, 9 Function Computer:
Been using a PB Protege 9.0 for 5 years. Have it mounted to a hardtail MTB, and bought a 2nd mount/magnet kit for my road bike so I just swap back and forth.

Once I did the setup for each bike it is dead accurate compared to my Garmin GPS. The 4-Line display is good for monitoring lots of data, and switching modes is easy.

I have never had the computer come out of the mount on the trail or road accidentally.

The temp guage is affected by direct sunlight but gives a good overall indication of the current temp.

No backlight, so not great for dusk or after-dark riding.

Summed up: Good basic computer that is a great value.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.
