A GuestI had worn through two sets of standard round grips this year and was looking for the next replacement. These are comfortable and seem to be more resilient than the Trek Bontager grips and my forearms seem more rested however, I did not avoid developing numbness in my pinky finger when the riding volume went up. And a minor beef - one of the bar end plugs cracked on installation. I was given a replacement by the Ergon rep at the Iceman.

chopps39These grips work and feel great. The one exception is that my right grip shifts and rotates while riding no matter how tight the hex screw is. I have aluminum bars so Im not afraid of damaging them but I dont want to strip the screw either. I was told to try some hairspray so the grip will slip on easy while its wet and when it dries it should become tacky and hopefully keep the grip in place.

rwi...@gm...l.comI have used Ergon GP1 grips for years and have put gazillions of miles on them. I decided to try the GX1 grips because they are a bit lighter. I really don't like these grips, compared to the GP1 grips. The edge seems to cut into my palm in a way that the GP1 grips don't. Also, the locking screw snapped off during installation. It is supposed to be torqued to 5nM. I set my torque wrench for 3 nM and snapped the screw. I'm going to stick with the GP1 grips.

A GuestGreat grips! Relieves pressure from the center of the palm and doesn't interfere with trigger shifters or breaking.

A GuestThe Ergon grips are definitely more comfortable than the standard ones they replace. I still would appreciate more comfort than the Ergons provide though. Also the reach to the brake levers seems to be increased--that could be due to the angle or shape of the grips or I may need to change the lever reach adjustment. I may need to get the GX2's with bar ends so I have more hand positions.
Installing the grips was extremely frustrating-- the fixing bolt on the right-hand grip clamp broke while tightening, even though I used a torque wrench set to the correct setting. I replaced the fixing bolt after a visit to the hardware store, but the clamp still doesn't tighten up correctly-- the torque wrench never "clicks" but the bolt feels tight and makes a "binding noise". The grip feels tight on the bar, and at least this time the bolt didn't break. I was careful to thread in the bolt straight and the threads do not feel cross-threaded. The left side clamp fixing bolt worked fine.

smcgaddenThese are great grips for me as they provide a platform to rest my palms on rather than a normal round grip. I have pain in my palms from lifting weights over the years so the platform provide some relief and comfort while riding. Also, I keep the grips slightly loose so I can twist them down a bit when hitting a technical down hill section. This is my second set as I sold the last set when I sold my old bike. I bought the ergon enduro grips first for my my new bike but decided to go back to the gx for the platform feature.

whitet777I was hoping these grips would fix my numb fingers, but they didn't. They took away a bit of security too my hands have on the bar because there is less of a positive stop on the handlebar now. I ride fairly aggressively on singletrack.

A Guestnice grips, comfortable, and good grip. Only ridden a couple of times but my wrists did not hurt afterward like usual, so they must be working.
